NISO Recommends New Practises For Designing Web Services

NISO (The National Information Standards Organization) has issued new recommendations "Best Practices for Designing Web Services in the Library Context" NISO RP 2006-01.

NISO is a non-profit association accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information.

In this publication IT managers, webmasters and programmers could read about

*http caching
*filtering of user input
*reuse of output formats
*security and throttling

The document also describes typical output formats and standarts used in web services — DTD, XML schema, RDF, Relax NG, and DSD.
