DOPA IS Gone For Now

The YALSA blog posted analysis of DOPA ( Deleting Online Predators Act ) legislation by Andi Carvin's from the Learningnow blog.

"But the final nail in DOPA’s coffin came with the switch of Congress from Republican to Democrat. Legislation that doesn’t get signed into law by the end of a congressional term has to start from scratch during the next term"

DOPA is gone for now and this is a big relief for librarians. To me DOPA never made sense, because the bill was after not only the social networking sites, but also the whole new social development of the Internet, where all the users have the right to participate.
