Micrsosft Buys New Vertical Health Search Engine

Microsoft announced yesterday that they are buying Medstory, a new vertical consumer health search engine.

As a typical vertical search engine Medstory crawls only specialized medical web sites and databases. All the results are grouped in a few categories: drugs, conditions, procedures, clinical studies, personal health, nutrition, complementary medicine and people.

You can also limit your search by video and audio file types, research articles and Internet content. Results could then be emailed , posted to del. icio. us or subscribed with RSS feed. For more info read the article in New York Times.

In the consumer health search engine business Microsoft is not alone. Last November Library Blog Buzz posted about two new health search engines Healia and Kosmix.
