SirsiDynix With New ILS Platform

SirsiDynix is introducing a new ILS technology platform with code name “Rome”.

"Neither Unicorn nor Horizon systems are being eliminated. Instead, SirsiDynix is blending features, capabilities, user interfaces, modules and more as the foundation of a single, new platform featuring best-of-breed solutions from both product families. The result will be a technology platform that can grow and evolve along with libraries and consortia.", explains Talin Bingham, chief technology officer of SirsiDynix.

Here is a brief listing of the new features:

* hosted software for the new platform to ensure disaster recovery

*new, web-based library software with Java capabilities for platform distribution

* new search portals with faceted, visual and federated search

* electronic resources management feature to better manage library materials

* add-on solutions from SirsiDynix partners: business intelligence, PC and print management, RFID self-check/automated materials

More details are available at Library Technology Guides and the company press release.
