A new legislation designed to boost librarians with library degrees was introduced on National Library Workers Day by senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Thad Cochran (R-MS).
According to the "Librarian Incentive to Boost Recruitment and Retention in Areas of Need Act" repayment of Perkins student loans for full-time librarians with a master's degree in library science will be cancelled.
"If librarians work full time in low-income areas, they could qualify for complete loan forgiveness. "
Any law that is going to take some of the financial burden off librarians is more than welcome with me.
