Pandora Abandons International Users

Starting today, if you love Pandora and you live outside of the U.S. you are not going to enjoy your favorite bands for free anymore.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ( DMCA) specifies how Pandora operates in the United States and how the site pays for the rights of all the songs.

Outside of America unfortunately, "Pandora must sign deals with rights holders directly and separate deals with labels and publishers for each song, an extremely difficult and time consuming task."

From now on all Pandora users will be examined not only for their zip code but also for the IP address before they are given access to the site.

At this point, if you are wondering what Pandora is read one of our old posts about this amazing service that discovers more of your favorite music with the help of the Music Genome Project.
