Exalead Starts Wikipedia, Blog And Forum Searches

The French pearl of search engines Exalead and one of my favorite too started a Wikipedia, blog and forum searches.

Wikipideia searches are available straight from the main page, after you select Wikipedia. To get better results try to limit your search to less than 8-9 words.

Blogging and forum searches are available only after you execute a search and select them at the “Refine your search” results page on the right.

"Unfortunately, the algorithm used to identify blogs and forums is less than 100 percent accurate. It is closer to 70 percent, so there is definitely room for improvement."

The other options in refining your searches are "related terms”, file type, multimedia
(audio, video, RSS) and directory.

Because some of the Exalead staff used to work at Alta Vista, this is the only search engine that offers proximity searches ( NEAR feature). In the old days Altavista also had the NEAR connector.
