The European Union Questions Google Data Storage Time

Forbes reported about Officials from the European Union who sent a letter to Google asking the search engine to explain why it keeps information on internet searches for up to two years.

Data stored by Google includes "search item, internet server address and sometimes details on cookies or identifier programs."

The European Union representative were concerned that such practices are in violation with privacy laws and would create profiles based on political stance, religion or sexuality.

To alleviate some fears about privacy Google agreed to cut its data retention time from indefinite time to two years.

It is been said over and over that Google with its warehouses of computers all over the US is a giant that "knows" a lot more about its clients and their habits than it usually shows. Let’s hope that European Union and other organizations” will be able to enforce some changes.
