Emerging Computer Technologies Class at Queens Library

Today Queens Library in New York, where I work offered its first Introduction to Emerging Computer Technologies Class at the Cyber Center. The class was thought by me and another librarian. The room was full and we had customers from 13 years to more than 50 years old.

We received a lot of interesting questions and comments. I noticed that some of the customers were surprised how social the new technologies are. For example they loved social bookmaking, but wanted it to be 100 % private.

The second part of the class is next week. We will help customers sign for a blog and RSS reader and we will highlight some of the important Web 2.0 websites like Digg, Pandora, Zillow and Zamzar.
