Meebo Implements File Sharing With Chat

Meebo, the chat (instant messaging) application in use at many libraries has added file sharing. With the new option users can click a button on their Meebo IM window toolbar and upload the file. The receiver on the other end will get a link to click on before downloading the shared file.

"We’re only allowing meebo account holders to send files, but anyone can receive… even your friends who are not on meebo (but should be =p). We’re not quite supporting this feature in Safari yet, but hopefully soon!", reads the instruction post on Meebo blog[/URL].

Co-browsing, where users can look at webpages at the same time should be the next feature implemented by the staff at Meebo. This will help all librarians using Meebo to provide better virtual reference by giving visual explanation of website resources, while chatting with customers.
