The new "Libraries Connect Communities: Public Library Funding & Technology Access Study" 2006-2007 revealed that 73% of U.S. public libraries are the only source of free public access to computers and the Internet in their communities. Overall the study found out that technology and computers bring more public library use.
My experience at the Queens Library's Cyber Center with 48 computers completely confirms the findings of the study. The only place at Central Library where from time to time you can see a huge line of customers is the computer center. To read the rest of the study, click here.
