SirsiDynix Will Maintain Horizon For Another 4 To 6 Years

SirsiDynix released a new version for Horizon 7.4.1, as well as Horizon Information Portal (HIP) 3.09 and 4.13 for libraries in North America.

"The Horizon 7.4.1 and HIP 3.09/4.13 releases are clear evidence that SirsiDynix remains committed to the Horizon platform," said Gary Rautenstrauch, SirsiDynix CEO. "While SirsiDynix Symphony is our flagship platform for the future, SirsiDynix will continue to upgrade the Horizon platform for the next four to six years.

The new version has better support for Vista users and a whole bunch of features for automated circulation systems that you can read about in the Library Technology Guides blog.

With all the confusion going on around ILS it is a must for big vendors now to maintain their old catalogs, otherwise libraries may start looking for more financially healthy solutions and move into open source catalog like all the libraries in Georgia did.
