Find Court & Public Records With CourtrReference.com and Public Records Directory

Searching for court and public records is not an easy task, depending on whether these records are available online or not, and you know where to look for them.

For librarians helping customers with legal and public record questions, it is good to know that there two awesome databases: CourtReference.com and Public Records Directory.

CourtReference.com (Court Records Free Reference and Directory)
was created to assist you in identifying which courts handle different types of cases in each state, and then to provide information on how to get those records. In many cases, our database provides links to online free court searches provided by the courts or state agencies.

Searching is quite simple, pick your state or type you zip code and you will be presented with a directory of different courts ( family, criminal, surrogate etc), and the available online resources for search.

The second database Public Records Directory (located on the bottom of the CourtReference.com home page too) is a depository for accessible public records online. Search is allowed by state, zip code and city.

Traffic Court writes:Another resource for information about local courts is town-court.com. In addition to simple contact information, it has valid street addresses and a Google Map link. For some courts this information can be difficult to find (especially in parts of NY and NJ).

    Thanks for the update
