District of Columbia Public Library With The First iTunes Application

Library blogs have been buzzing aroundlately about the first library iTunes application for District of Columbia Public Library available on the iTunes store.

The iTunes library application was created by DCPL library staff.

Functionality in this version includes:
* searching for library materials
* seeing an item’s cover and reading a summary
* placing a hold for pickup at the location of your choice
* finding the hours, locations and phone numbers of DC public libraries

Plug in your iPhone or iPod Touch and try it out. Marketing your services on mobile phones and popular mobile platforms ( iTunes) is another way to engage more customers ( especially younger generations) in using our libraries, something we should all strive to do.
