SOLINET & PALINET Merge Into New Organization: Lyrasis

If you haven’t heard the two largest regional library cooperatives SOLINET (Southeastern Library Network)which serves libraries in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and the Caribbean and PALINET,which serves libraries in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia announced that in two months they will merge into a new organization called Lyrasis.

The new organization, backers said, will have the combined resources, shared expertise, and improved operating efficiencies to achieve rapid implementation of new programs; greater consortial savings opportunities; extended networking and collaboration among members; innovative technology solutions; and an expanded education curriculum.

PALINET resources are worth checking, because the cooperative offers inexpensive top of the line workshops, group discounts on software purchases and various educational blogs and podcats.
